Stuart Hellis health4u@connect.ab.ca Edmonton, Alberta CANADA http://www.connect.ab.ca/~health4u ---------- Since the weather has warmed up today to a balmy -19C (-2F), the Wild Rose Chapter went ahead with its First Anuual Polar Bear Run. The first top down event of the year was sparsely attended, with only Richard Dekker, our benevolent Dictator, and I showing up. After we each helped the other remove our hardtops, we went for a "bracing" run through downtown Edmonton. With the wind at 15km/hr (approximately 10 mph) we limited the run to about 45 minutes. We did attract some attention from the local gendarmes, and assorted pedestrians who cheered us on. Some, like the tow truck driver in the next lane at a traffic light, merely shook their heads. They just don't understand Miataholics. To hear the crisp sound of the exhaust in the winter's air stirs the blood! Thank God, for otherwise the blood might have frozen. A challenge, then, to anyone else who has the tenacity to top down it at temperatures where the windchill is around -25C. I can hardly wait for Spring, only another four months. When my camera thaws out, we should have some photos to show for it. Happy New Year one and all, Regards, Stuart & Tabasco '90 Red (glad to have her hardtop back on) p.s. A hardtop really does make a difference! Wild Rose Chapter M-Club #149 Stuart Hellis health4u@connect.ab.ca Edmonton, Alberta CANADA http://www.connect.ab.ca/~health4u
