If it is one of those RF-modulated on I would run it right off the battery

with an in-line fuse.  In my case I bought a head unit/cd changer combo

so the changer is run off power from the head unit.  Here I ran the

DIN cable under the shifter console under the carpet and through

a little hole in the gas tank access panel.  The cable comes out

in the trunk behind where the spare tire is located.
