Man, I guess I don't need to pull off my fenders when I take my car to the dyno. I also thought my car made most hp in 1st gear... then again, that could just be the gearing playing tricks on me. ;^) Percy wrote... > We just bought a G-Tech unit for our shop to use to test part performance. > > It is accurate to within .1sec in 0-60 times and +/- 3hp in measuring > > horseppower. There are soooo many *significant* variables when trying to do a 0-60 test while trying to test the effects of a new modification. Here's some I can think of.... 1. Launch (not all drop clutches at 5000 rpm produce the same launch.) A good lauch is modulated after wheelspin occurs. 2. Heat of tires. After a few runs (but not too many as to heat up your engine) your tires will become softer and will grip better. 3. Shifting (!) The difference between a good shift and a really good shift in a 0-60 run is said by some to be as much as 1 whole second (especially when you have to shift twice with the 1.6 gearing)! Percy, You could better illustrate the possible benefits of the new intake by running some rolling times (ie. 50-70 in 3rd gear, 70-100 in 5th gear, etc,.) Better yet, take it to the drag strip and run a dozen or so 1/4 miles. Also, it's important to have what intake you are using a mystery to you. Have a friend swap in the other one in every so often and record the results. Realistically, I don't see a 2-3hp difference in the top end to be significantly recordable by anything other than a dyno. My butt is not that sensitive and I don't think the Gteck Pro is smart enough to take all variables into consideration. -Shiv
