>>-->Actually, they can!...You see, if you do a certain web search with a >>certain web engine (like Excite) it will pop up these messages. >..... I think it might be bringing up the digest or FAQ's?... Ingrid No - because of the way the digest is now structured, the search engines will find actual messages. So someone can do a search on "Bill Cardell" and "drugs" and come up with a confession that he is a dealer! Unlikely (I think the message has to be the result of a search on the archives, which is then set up as an html page, whcih the agents for the search engine find), but possible. We're also archived outside of our own setup. A group called "reference.com" has just started archiving the list - as of yesterday, as a matter of fact. They just asked me to pass along the following: ---------------------------------------------------------------------- - Reference.COM has begun archiving this list as of: Feb. 2, 1997 - Searchable archives for the lists are available at: http://www.reference.com/cgi-bin/pn/listarch?list=miata@list.miata.net - If you do *NOT* want your post archived at Reference.COM, include the following line as an email header or as the first line of your message: X-No-Archive: yes ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Also, we've had at least one report of the list being mirrored to some newsgroup. Once your message is out there, it's hard to say where it will end up! It's not always in Miata magazine! Keith Tanner List Admin
