Ivan, I've been watching the responses to your timing question and I think the responses so far may have missed your point. Are you talking about the TWO timing marks on the 1.8L pulley? The white one, which is most advanced on the pulley (The left one when looking from the front of the car) is the wrong mark. setting your timing to this does no harm other than the car runs like a dog 'cause the spark's too retarded. The yellow one (The right one when looking from the front of the car) is the mark to use. The paint has dulled on the marks on my car so I can't differentiate the colors any more so I have to use the above rule all the time when I set my timing. If this isn't the question you're asking, well, maybe this explanation will help someone else.
