In a message dated 97-02-27 22:04:17 EST, you write: "But if they are going to say there are putting it on with the quote "Combined California Chapters of the Miata Club of America" and it appears they aren't, then they are misrepresenting the event. And if they are misrepresenting that aspect of the event, I wonder what other aspects are being misrepresented as well." Moss puts on events like this for the British car clubs also. While it does promote their name, it also provide a great venue for car people to get together. The only place I have seen them report the event afterward is in their newsletters. Having used them for British parts for years I would have no qualms about going to one of their event. There is nothing wrong with a corporation acting as a catalyst for an event like this. In regard to planning the date for the event, if you have ever tried to plan an event on a date that would suit every club and club member, you would know that this is impossible. Forming a commitee with representatives from all the clubs in order to plan an event is also futile. Having some experience in planning and participating in Morgan events, the usual plan is to pick the dates, determine the events, and contact the different clubs to see if they will sponsor an event. If they don't wish to participate at that level, another club is asked. This is usually the most efficient means to pull off a large event. They may have been premature to announce that they are putting it on with the combined California clubs, but it is probably as a result of planning these events before and knowing that most clubs are more than willing to participate given the opportunity.
