Just curious if there are any reliable dyno results on miata filter chargers. I was at HMS Motorsports in Marblehead Mass. a few weeks ago and watched a 92 VW GTI with a g-60 corrado motor run on their drive on dyno with a stock airbox w/ standard K&N filter and then with a K&N filter charger setup. The car lost 15 peak horsepower with the filtercharger and was down across the entire rev range (in torque as well). HMS said they've seen similar results on bimmer's; they said unless there was ductwork added to the filter charger to get COLD air to the intake, the filterchargers were worse than stock.... I thought it was pretty interesting considering what most aftermarket vw tuners claim about horsepower gains with the filterchargers (I haven't look at this for our miata because we need it to be solo ii legal). P.S. The dyno had a huge fan blowing cold air into the grill, so the fact that the car was sitting still shouldn't matter... ___ James McElroy mailto:mcelroy@ma.ultranet.com 92 GTI 2.0 16V w/131k (ported&polished/Brospeed header/Koni adj/SofSports/etc.) 97 Miata R purchase pending (long Solo II stock legal wish list in progress)
