From: "Fletcher Blades" <fblades@fanshawe.newzealand.ncr.com> Subject: Loose "wire" ? / soft-top problem Date: Tue, 1 Apr 1997 19:52:50 -0500
Well, yesterday when lowering or raising my top (I forget which) I noticed something wrong with my car. There is a long thin round piece of plastic (like wire, only with no wire in it) hanging down from the edge of the soft-top, behind the drivers window. I can tell from the shape of it, that it used to curve around the corner at the top rear of the window towards the front of the car. It has broken off at the second fold from the front, the point of highest wear (before the B-pillar retaining clip was introduced). This is the original top, and it is showing obvious wear, but its not awful (yet). Does anybody know what this piece is or does? I cannot see into the crevice it has obviously fallen out of, nor can I see one on the other side (although I'm sure its there). Is this a sign of impending doom? I am inclined to just chop it off and forget it, but I thought I'd make sure its not important... Fletch, Red '90 fletcher.blades@newzealand.ncr.com
