Regarding the potential of "shoe horning" a 4.6L Modular into a Miata, Have any of you seen a 4.6L motor up close? It is HUGE! I currently have a 460ci V8 in my truck, the 4.6L is much bigger. The 4.6L does fit in the current Mustang, albeit tightly. The tight fit is the reason why the current style Mustang GT came with the 5.0L originally. It is also the reason for the "hood scoop" on the 4.6L powered ones (either the SOHC, or the DOHC versions) Also, exhaust manifolds have been a real problem on Mustangs (space wise). Just imagine how a Miata would look with a Mustang front end! I personally, would love to have a 300+ HP V8 in a Miata, but with size and weight restrictions, I don't think it will actually happen, at least not in anything that *we* would call a Miata.
