The trick is to slip a shop cloth or rag between the window crank and door panel and slide it back 

and forth (like you are polishing your shoes).  The circlip will pop right off.



BTW, I recently resubscribed after an absence of about 2 years.  I have been lurking in the 

shadows since I resubscribed about 2 weeks ago.
