Assuming you have a clean record, it sounds like maybe you're  

getting screwed. I live in and keep my car in the middle of downtown  

Chicago. When I bought my '94R new, I was 23. My rate was ~1000 per  

6mo. On turning 25, my rate dropped by over 50%. Sounds like you  

may not have shopped around much. I found there was a _large_ spread  

between the various companies out there. Try Geico- the had the  

lowest rates of the dozen or so places I'd checked out.
