Hi Gang, This is the fourth installment: Thur. June 26, 1997 We went out to the Flag is up Farms this morning to observe the preparations and discovered that they were just getting under way. I also learned that it would be unlikely that I would be able to hook up to a phone line, so I’ll have to send these posts out after I return to Cincinnati. I returned to the motel and applied a coat of wax to Drifter, and generally enjoyed the bright sunny day. At about 11:30 we headed for the airport in Santa Barbara to pick up Ruth. Before I got half way there I ran into heavy low hanging clouds and uncomfortably low temperatures which caused me to consider putting the top up. (But I didn’t) By the time Ruth’s plane arrived the skies had cleared, the temperatures rose and the trip up US 101 was great. When we got to the motel we met some of the San Diego Miata Club which had traveled in a group of 24 Miatae, which must have been really neat. Except for the time spent in the Hitchin Post restaurant having a great steaks, the rest of the day was spent at the Farm looking at the cars, meeting Miataphiles and checking out the vendor corral. I think the best part was meeting some of the Miata.Net folks. Part of my goal for the trip was to meet Jeannie Hobbs, Bill Cardell, Voodoo Bob Krueger, Larry Ogden (from New Zealand) and others. Maybe half the group was there by Thursday and it looked like were going to have a great time. Ruth and I retired early that night, partially because it was getting cool, and because Ruth was still on Eastern time and had had a long day. Regards, Ruth, Bill Bowser & Drifter
