My fiancee and I went to a local Mex-Tex place over the weekend here inAtlanta and the night sky looked weird and "funky." Put the top up for theshort drive and while on I-75, this little yellow miata was BLAZING by usdoing about 90mph ith the top off...The yellow was of a lighter color and ithad the "notch" wing on the rear (like mine), but unpainted (this has nothing to do with the story). Anyway, the sky poored like I have never seen before...the type of rain that gets past the side rain gutters on your top and splashes you in the face, the type of rain that falls sideways, the type of rain that hits your top and almost ripps through the fabric!...whew... All I could think about was that poor chap...he must of got soaked! Well, we pulled into the Mex-Tex place (still raining like hell!) and there in front of us in the parking lot is a black 1997 Miata with the top DOWN. I immediately jumped out of my car and ran over to rescue the other Miata. Threw that top up in seconds, zipped the rear window up (but not before clamping the top down ;-)), and rolled up those windows. I cannot begin to tell you how much water was on the floor of this poor car and the seats were like clogged "sinks". Just terrible. :-() By this time, I too, am about as wet as a jellyfish and walk into this place and paged the owner, who happened to be this beautiful girl who didn't even know it was pooring out. She was in tears and all I could do was offer her my two towels that cheaply protected my rear window. It was so bad that she had to use a margarita cup to scoop the water out. I did get a sad thank you, but never did get my towels back and come to think about it, all I got was a wet kiss from my fiancee for being so kind to others. Makes you kind of warm and fuzzy inside, huh? -Peter/1991 Classic Red & Dry
