From: "John D. Emerson" <jemerson@panther.middlebury.edu> Subject: Working defroster on added factory hardtop Date: Sat, 2 Aug 1997 07:38:42 +0000
After many months, I finally completed the last small steps in getting the rear defroster working on a factory hardtop for a 1992 Miata. I believe that the information I'm sharing here is relevant to more recent models (but definitely not 1991s or 1990s). Be sure to verify part numbers for later models because the timer went onto its own switch at some point -- mine is on the heater fan switch. To make the hardtop defroster work, I needed to add the following pieces: Timer NA01-67-7T0 $52 (Roebuck's) Relay LA40-67-740 $17 (Roebuck's) Fusebox N))8-66-730 $16 (list) -- comes with 2 10-amp fuses All three parts are immediate plug-ins. Thanks to listserve members, and especially to Lester Seal, who guided me on a couple of technical issues relating to an aftermarket Harada electric antenna which shares the fuse block.
