At least if you are running nothing bigger than 225x50x14's, they will go in the car, with the top up. One will slide in on the back shelf, extending over the top of a second one in a vertical position behind the passenger seat. (Seat in the forward position and tire sits on top of a box about 9" tall, to keep tire off the glove box.) Now push the seat back into the vertical position, and vola, room for two more in the passenger seat, vertically with towels underneath to keep them up, off the console, dash, and door upholstery. Now you don't need a spare, so the trunk is still empty! No, don't try to use the right mirror, it becomes useless. Nobody said AutoX was easy, but this solution will due till you get a trailer hitch. (It has worked for me for five years in '90 base; now '94R) A 205x55x14 will even slide in the trunk, in a slippery garbage bag. Who wants to be saddled with a trailer? Oh, I get it, your significant other wants to go along, or it's her car and she IS going along etc, etc---better keep looking for a hitch, and let me know when you find one that bolts to the inside rather than the outside of the frame down supports, in place of the tie down hooks. Maybe this design is too logical--it seems to have eluded the experts! BK
