Barry / list, I've been battling the "RPM-dip-as-the-car-slows" problem for quite some time. I've also adjusted the idle (up a tad); changed plugs, wires, air filter, etc.. The RPM dips, but the car has NEVER stalled. It is most noticeable w/ the clutch depressed, or, when in reverse with the clutch depressed (try it). I live in California (reformulated gas). The ONLY thing that seems to work for me, despite everything I've read in Miata Mag, etc, is 92 octane gas! The car almost never suffers the RPM-drop on high octane. But that's not the best fix, obviously. None of the above helps you with whatever ails your idle speed adjustment screw-- sorry! But, if you fix the overall idle-drop problem, please email me with the solution. ************************************ From: "Barry J. Bolling" <bbolling@netdepot.com> Subject: Idle speed adjustment Date: Thu, 31 Jul 1997 17:14:54 +0000 It seems that my idle speed adjustment does not work anymore. I did an oil change a week ago, and my idle speed has been "dipping" below 500 rpm when I let my foot off the gas as I come to a stop. I am stuck at approx 850 rpm, but I'd like it just a tad higher. I turned it all the way clockwise and it had virtually no effect. What is my problem? Thanks, Barry ******************************************** -Paul Fix -92 "C" HT
