Patrick, don't sell your Miata to get a motorcycle- especially if the Miata is paid off. Ask yourself: are you really in a financial spot where you NEED to sell it? Or, are you simply "jones-ing" for a motorcycle? Take this simple self-test: Do you have cycle trader mags everywhere? Are you checking the paper? Discussing buying tips with motorcycle owners? If so, you're just suffering that fever we all get for something new and exciting. But, your an original owner of a problem-free, great-year (1993) Miata. You scored in the auto buyer's lottery. Great price, great style, low insurance, extraordinary reliability- plus it has a top and a passenger seat! Even if you have another year of payments, you should try to keep it. You'll enjoy another 10 years of payment-free driving! Motorcycles are fun, but they are just jet-ski's on wheels. -Paul Fix -92 "C" HT *********************************** From: "Mr. Patrick" <lorddimwitflathead@mindless.com> Subject: ... Date: Fri, 1 Aug 1997 03:15:47 +0000 Hi, Keith, Bill, everyone else. I've been away for some time so hopefully this will actually get to the list and not get picked up by the li'l Mars Rover. I'm not here to spam with a for-sale ad. I'm just getting something off my chest... I'm afraid that time dicates I not contribute as much as I would like here, and money dictates that I possibly must ultimately sell Shub. If this ends up being the case, I will miss being part of the Miata cult (heheheh, now that would be a cool bumper sticker: miata-cult.net), being part of something so unique, but for now it seems the only logical choice for me. It's unfortunate because I've clocked in almost 60K on that car and never had one mechanical problem. Never. Not one. It's obviously overly engineered. I'm not exactly sure if I will sell it, because I need reliable transportation and great fuel economy, but a motorcycle IS cheaper; of course, it's not exactly practical all the time like the Miata is (you get your top down in summer and your roof while it rains). Has anyone experienced any similar problem with possibly being forced to give up their infatuation? Actually, I suppose I've been trying to avoid thinking about it so I don't feel the blow when it does sell, but I'll just hate the fact that someone will be driving my custom Miata. Plus, I bought it new in '93. I'm just curious. I suppose I could always get another one since they are still making 'em if I'm not into something else by then, so at least I've that pillow. What do you all think? Thanks for listening. Mr. Patrick & Shub-Niggurath **********************************************************************
