Okay I swore I didn't WANT power windows in a tiny car that you could unwind both cranks at the same time if you felt like it. I didn't WANT them 'cause unnecessary (powered) moving parts are unnecessary and expensive trouble.. BUUUTTT.. my sweet new used car (92 SBY) came with them so what the hell... So guess what? Still working on my first 1000m on the odom, and the power window putzed out. Read info on miata.net/tech. Visited MazMart. Called Brainstorm (Non-atlantans may turn green now.) Still in trouble 'cause mine is NOT the stock power-window "regulator" (ie: motor&junk) which MazMart could replace ($179) but some aftermarket delight with BOSCH written on it. My buddy & I stripped it & greased it (and greased the window, the car door, my pants and his dog). The motor still turns but circuit-breaks quickly if too much load is applied. The cable assembly (much better, it seems than the Miata solution) is in good shape and now that it is overgreased, seems to present as much resistance as your average window. My guess is that the motor is lacking oomph. It is a sealed unit and I guess I am looking to replace it and worm gear which are permanently united together. I have thought about reverting to cranks (available at MazMart) but installing these seems nontrivial... Any ideas about how to fix or where to find replacement... ---------------- Dov Jacobson Sunburst with trimmin's
