I've started thinking maybe a deflated lifter. Anybody have any relevant experience? That seems like a significantly easier replacement job than valve springs. Can they be "re-inflated"? I'm going to change the oil this weekend with Mobil1 and cross my fingers. Thanks stu... My 90, w/90k miles, started making a very scary ticking noise yesterday. It is engine speed dependent, seems to be coming from under the cam cover, and is loud enough to be heard in the cockpit. It sounds like my old 302 Mustang when a rocker arm or lifter tappet went bad. The oil has been changed every 3-4k miles with Mobil dino and a clean filter. I know there are many people with twice the miles I have, so am I just unlucky? I'm going to buy a new cam cover gasket today and pull the cover. Does anyone have any experience doing valve work on these engines? Hopefully it is just a weak spring or something of that sort. Otherwise I think I'll be putting a 13b rotary..... Thanks stu... stu@marriott.com
