OK, thanks guys for all of the responds so far. I'll definately go with the R1s. What's this Team T/A? How do I join, what do I get, and what's it for? I understand that to remain in B Stock I can change my shocks (I will at around 30,000 miles once they start to get lazy - probably go with adjustable tokicos or gabs), change to a same size wheel (will stay with the stock ones), change the exhaust from the cat back, and change the front sway bar (since I can't do the rear that'd probably hurt my driving more than help it). Anything else I can do? For money reasons I've decided to stay stock class for awhile and then later maybe move up once I get some experience. Nearly everyone suggested a driving school - any suggestions (web pages with info maybe?)/prices for ones in the southeast? Also, for those of you who made mention - yes this was my first autox. Pepper is a '97 black/tan - 3 months old. The course was short - times range from a 29.1 for a ProSolo2 RX7 Twin Turbo to a 34+ second 240sx convertible. The B stock miatas were all running high 31s (most with tokicos, borla, hard dog or R package). I ran a best of 34.2 and my friend ran a 33.8 in my car. I just couldn't push it hard enough to get any faster (the 33.8 was run just after a previous run early in the morning - it was a 24 hour autox - so the tires were still hot and the engine still cool). After riding with another guy I could tell the big difference in how his car stuck to the ground. Well sorry so long Daniel BTW - is it possible to install some sort of harness without a hard dog roll bar (the hd rb is neat but i can't get over how i don't like the looks).
