From: Gary Fischman <miata@eunos.com> Subject: Timing belt change question Date: Wed, 1 Oct 1997 11:57:31 +0000
I was poking through PBC's site and I noticed in their "timing belt kit", it included a new tensioner spring. I've never replaced this spring in all the belts I've done and never noticed any problems (like jumping a tooth due to lack of tension.) In fact, I'm not even sure what the spring is used for since the tensioner is held down with a lock bolt. The shop manual doesn't consider it a maintenance item either. Anyone know what the deal is with replacing the tensioner spring? -- Gary Fischman MFWIC@Miata.net
