When I first replaced my stockers, I went with the D60A2s in 185x60x14 as most folks raved about them. I found them a little too "slidey" for my tastes (great, now he's making up his own cutesy words), so returned them for the SP8000s. The local discount tire store allows a week exchange privilege for any reason. Anyway, I found I was a little looser than I thought I'd be, even with the stickier SP8000s in 195x5x14. I called Dunlop and asked a tech rep about how long for the mold release to wear off, i.e., how many miles. I was told that they don't use mold release?! Now, I didn't want to refute the guy, after all, he's the technical resource for all things Dunlop, right? He said the tire will have the same characteristics, right out of the box (so to speak), until the tread wears to a minimal level. Okay, I didn't quite accept this either, but....but...but... Any ideas for a snappy comeback that I can call him back with? (months later?) Really, anyone know anything about mold release? DO NOT come back with any fungoid comments, pu-lease. -- Dave Okamoto LSI Logic Corporation mailto:davo@lsil.com
