From: Rick Flashman <rflashma@mtholyoke.edu> Subject: Funny Noise...can anyone figure it out? Date: Wed, 1 Oct 1997 16:46:39 +0000
Howdy, My 93a Miata has started to develop a rather odd noise. I only hear it when driving at moderate speeds (20-35) without any accelleration noise to block it out. What happens is as follows. When I go over a slight road depression or bumb (a big bump wont do this) I hear a light noise coming from what seems to be the left rear tire area. The noise itself happens only when the left rear tire meets the road depression. However, when I try to exagerate the noise (bigger bump, etc) it goes away. At first, the noise was such, that I thought I had something loose in my trunk where the jack is stored. But after removing that, I still continue to occassionally hear the noise. No performance difference in any way can be felt. The noise is low enough, that it cannot be heard from the passenger seat. No similar noise occurs on the passenger side (I checked). Any ideas? - Rick
