If you've used leaded fuel at all, the O2 sensor has probably been

ruined.  This seems more likely to be the reason for Mazda to

disconnect the sensor than just hot weather.



} Wouldn't not having a sensor cause me to run rich all the time?  Isn't that

} good?  (Just bad for emissions?)



It runs in open-loop mode, using whatever mappings the ECU has for the

values all its other sensors.  At least for a US-spec car. I believe

this generally runs richer than the "ideal" for emissions.
