Dave, I have worked extensively with the Dunlop people and tires (mainly motorcycle tires, but car tires as well), they really don't use mold release anymore. They use a chemical compound that wears off extremely quickly...less that 2 miles... As for the experience with the SP8000's, I had a set on my NSX and hated them for the same reasons you are having trouble. I found them too hard and the handling charecteristics were very vague. I swithched to Yokohama AVS Intermidiates and loved them. As for my Miata, I'm running BF. Goodrich Comp ZR T/A's 205-50-15 on Panasports...really like them. Grip is very good and they are quiet....so far so good. I have a tendency to drive very hard and I'm having a very good time with these tires. FWIW, Aaron Tachibana
