About every two months somebody feels the need to inform the 1000+ 

list subscribers that there isn't enough technical info going around 

and that we are just all wasting bandwith.

What many seem to forget is that this list has a very important 

social function as well. Not everyone lives in a country where you 

see another Miata every day, some of us are lucky if we see 10 

different Miatas in a whole year. We all love this special little car 

and like to share our feeling of frustration, joy, pride etc with 

like-minded people. I owned my Miata for two years before I 

discovered Miata.net and this list, a week later I bought a PC and 

got on the internet. Thanx to the list, no make that the people on 

this list I have grown to love my car like you would a pet, it 

reaches an absurd level now and then but it's worth it.

Although not being very technically inclined this list has helped me 

understand certain issues that I then could tell my local mechanic, it has 

also made me aware that the prices being charged for parts in Belgium 

are outrageous. Through the list I have made many, many friends, had 

the pleasure of meeting about 15 other subscribers and made some 

friends that otherwise I would never have gotten the chance to meet.

If this list would be little more than a technical list, although 

having it's merits, it would mean that a lot of us would be cut off 

from other Miata enthusisast.

And during those dark Winter months when it gets too cold/slippery to 

go out for a nice topdown drive (Canadians please ignore this part) 

talking to people on this list makes for a very nice surrogate..I 

mean a guy can only polish his CHROME for a certain amount of 

hours.....:)
