You're not due for a new timing belt until 60K 

miles.  You are, however, due for a tune-up.  

Also, my understanding about the '90 crankshaft 

problem is that the vast majority of '90 Miatas 

have not had this problem (I think I read that 

maybe 1% did.  Anybody know what the percentage 

is?)
