What is it with Chevelle drivers? Is there a low-pass IQ filter in the showroom, or what? When my '71 240Z was new (and still stock), I swung out to pass an SS396 full of billybobs on a West Virginia 2-lane. At the end of the longish straight, there was a right-angle right turn, marked "30 MPH," and beyond that the side of a mountain. Naturally, Mr. Macho had to race me, and was keeping me in the left lane until I was starting to think seriously about my braking point (we were going around 110 mph by then, and I was figuring the turn for 70, max). The Chevelle driver must have been thinking along similar lines, only HIS braking point had passed a ways back. Last I saw, he disappeared in his own dust cloud after spinning into a ditch. Might have rolled it, but I wasn't hanging around to see. Of course, that was many years ago, and I don't do things like that in my Miata. Yet. --- Lanny Chambers, St. Louis '94C. Red, of course.
