I'm no expert, but here's my take. The *wires* aren't the weak link in the Miata. Its the insulation that covers the wires. I believe the insulation breaks down due to the extreme conditions inside the spark plug wells. So an ohm-meter still shows the wires to be good, but the dielectric withstanding voltage of the insulation is reduced. Just my theory. Never verified. FWIW. -- Gary Fischman MFWIC@Miata.net
