Kevin, IMHO, stick with the RE71s. Priced right, work great. Had the D40s before the RE71s, like the Bridgestones better. As far as weather in the Rockies, totally unpredictable, though they do a good job keeping 70 clear in the high passes. I'm in Denver right now, drove through the passes Friday night, no snow on the road. Almost all of the Denver blizzard snow has gone. Once you get 100 miles west of Denver, weather changes pretty dramatically. We only got six inches of snow in Palisade all winter last year..Never had snow on the ground past lunchtime. bill
