I have an Alpine 8040E, which is no longer the current model,

 but a predecessor of the one you are looking at.



I'm quite happy with it. It has only false alarmed two or three

times in the two years I've had the car..



My main gripe is that the alarm itself is fairly quiet. I have it

installed under the hood behind the left head-light, and when

it goes off, I cant hear it from more than a hundred feet or so.

Even as little as thirty feet, if you are the other side of a wall.



They may have fixed that by now, or mine may be non-typical?
