Not to start a battle here (nomex now carefully on) but I think of the r

package very much like a german "lightweight" type thing.  Plus, if you add

the price of the base to the aftermarket prices for all the goodies included,

you find that the r is actually somewhat of a bargain.  I am enjoying the

taught handling, and there are almost no other cars in my area equipped with

the factory ground effects and deck spoiler like my r (my dealer indicated

that this was only the second r they had sold since its inception in 1994).  I

agree the smell of leather is nice, but, for me, the extra maintenaince is no

comparison to the stability of the r when cruising at 90, or on a twisty back

road.
