In a message dated 97-10-30 05:09:46 EST, you write: > All this talk about M's and R's, I thought I'd put in my two cents. I always > thought that the R was kind of a "less for more" type thing. Dealers jack > the price up just because it is a "race" edition...not me, I want power > windows in a car that I pay fourteen grand for. That and the leather does > smell really nice. Now for a request. --snip--- > > Alex: Not to start a battle here (nomex now carefully on) but I think of the r package very much like a german "lightweight" type thing. Plus, if you add the price of the base to the aftermarket prices for all the goodies included, you find that the r is actually somewhat of a bargain. I am enjoying the taught handling, and there are almost no other cars in my area equipped with the factory ground effects and deck spoiler like my r (my dealer indicated that this was only the second r they had sold since its inception in 1994). I agree the smell of leather is nice, but, for me, the extra maintenaince is no comparison to the stability of the r when cruising at 90, or on a twisty back road. each to his (her) own... Craig Krivin 97 triple black r 78 vw red 924 Club even got to drive the r on the 31st of October in upstate New York!
