If you can, as the kids say, 'hook me up', my address is > lakecottge@msn.com. John, You have my sympathies, as it sounds like the decision to sell was not willingly made. As a recent buyer, I would like to offer you a few comments. First of all, you may be surprised at the number of Miatas that have low mileage on them. For example, we looked at a '92 that had about 20k (miles), a '96 that had 4k, and a '95 that had 5.6k. This was in the space of about 3 weeks in the Chicago area. The '95 was owned by someone who lived in downtown Chicago and apparently used mostly public transportation. During the year that he owned it, he only put 2000 miles on it. So my sample indicates that low mileage Miatas are not unusual. (Of course, this is not a random sample, as we only looked at red Miatas :-) The '95 is now ours. Secondly, 'appreciative' may not translate to low miles. In fact, I don't understand why people buy the car and then *don't* drive it. But I figure that anyone who buys a Miata will enjoy it in their own way. Some will keep it 'factory' while others will use that as a starting point. Some will drive it as their every day car while others will only take it out when there is no precipitation forecast for the next three days. Ours is not our regular car, and it doesn't go out when there is snow/salt on the roads, but other than that, we drive it when we have the chance. And in about one month, we have managed to put as much mileage on it as the previous owner did in six months. As far as care, the car has been washed three times during that time and I have added a raft of accessories, including a grill, lights, horns, a bra, and have leather seat covers ordered, so I would disagree with anyone to challenge my appreciation. Anyway, almost anyone who would buy a ragtop this time of year (at least around here - Chicago area) would have to be appreciative. But you should also be aware that there is no time of year when your car will be worth less (again, for snow belt sellers.) Good luck finding someone who will continue to care for your car. hank > > > > > > > -- Hank Barta White Oak Software Inc. hbarta@wwa.com Predictable Systems by Design.(tm) Beautiful Sunny Winfield, Illinois
