I had to take my '94 in this past summer because the speedo cable (?) was

driving me nuts with this high pitch squeal.  The guy at the local Mazda

dealer didn't even try to determine if it was the speedo cable or if it was

the speedo itself.   He just ordered an entire new assembly.  Of course, the

car was still under warranty so I didn't mind.
