From: "Kevin Morrison" <canyon3@ibm.net> Subject: breaking into a Miata Date: Fri, 9 Jan 1998 00:50:15 +0000
Gang, I think we have not covered this lately so I thought I'd remind you all how easy it is to break into a locked Miata. I went to dinner tonight with my friend Julia, and she locked the keys in her '95 A package Miata. "Darn," she said, "I'll have to call AAA and have them come get the car open." "Don't bother" I said, at which point I had already reached into the back of the soft top by the window and started unzipping it from the outside. Fifteen seconds later I was climbing up on the rear-left wheel and going head first into the car, unlocking the doors from the inside. Total time from discovering the keys locked in the car to liberating them - 45 seconds, tops. The point is, don't leave ANYTHING of value in your car, and don't bother to lock it.
