Subject: Tailpipe fell off my '96!

Start the car Saturday morning and it sounds different...meaner, more

powerful...well ok, mostly louder.

I get out to check the exhaust and find the end pipe (from muffler to rear

of car) hanging down a few inches....what the!?

So I gave it a couple twists and off it came.  You can easily see that it

rusted where the pipe meets the muffler.  Anyone else had this happen?  My

guess is the exhaust is not warranted...course all it needs is a quick weld.

Naturally, my wife thinks this is a very interesting coincidence since I've

been talking about getting a new cat-back all winter :-)

The car now has a cool crack when I jab the throttle...but the 3K drone is

almost overwhelming with the top up since the sound exits under the trunk

now.

Hmm, now I'm thinking of cutting the muffler off completely and just run

pipe in it's place and out the back.  That ought to do until I get that

Borla ordered.

Hey Merv...exactly how loud was your straight pipe exhaust?  :-)
