Subject: Deal's Gap

OK, it has come to my attention that many are not real sure of the date for

the Miatas at the Gap gathering. Said date is August 1st. Many drive in on the

day before and stay at their respective landing sites, hanging out at the lodge

in the evening before turning in to catch a few winks for the big day. Everybody

parts ways Saturday night or Sunday morning, depending on where you are staying/

going home to. (I know. I ended a sentence in a preposition. Sue me. Or should

the Iceman do that?)



On August 1st we rise and try to shine at around 8-8:30, with those that are

staying elsewhere arriving near that time. People wander about the lot in a

sleepy stupor until we finally decide to grid the cars and have a drivers'

meeting. Then we go.  Through the Gap and on to the Foothills Parkway. Lunch is

at the Look Rock picnic area, which tends to be completely deserted year-round.

We will not be going up to Cade's Cove this year, as 42 Miatae was too much for

them and I can imagine what 100 or so Miatae (hopefully) will do to the poor

rangers that try to keep order up there. Heck, we'll probably have to split the

driving group up into 2 groups just so we don't stretch from one end of the

Gap to the other, playing boy racer, diving into the turns and setting up a huge

accordion effect. :^) And hopefully our little pullout can hold us all. With

a little more creative parking I bet we can.



Now fitting all those cars into the Lodge parking lot... That's going to be a

treat. But I bet we do it!
