During lunch, I made a break from the office on my way to Sunnyvale Mazda. I got a call from the salesman telling me that the '99s were in, prepped and ready to be test driven. On my way down the Central Expressway in Santa Clara, I found my self behind a beautiful purple 3rd Gen RX-7. As I often do, I speezed and let off my throttle a couple of times to hear the glorious sounds of the blow off vavle. The RX-7 owner, cruising at 40mph, heard it loud and clear and with a quick downshift and a puff of gasy smoke out of his tailpipes, he switched lanes and was off. I followed hot in pursuit. Between 40mph and 130mph, F'stein caught up from 8 car-length behind and passed the RX-7--- top down and Chumbawamba playing loud on the radio. He looked to me and gave a big thumbs up and shouted "F?&%#* Cool!" Missed my exit, but it was worth it. Made my way down to the dealership without any more racing. The salesman pulled me in the back and showed me the new fleet of '99 miatas (in all available colors!). This is first time I have ever seen them in person. I really like it. From the rear half, all I could say to myself was "RX-7", which, imho, is a really good thing. Sat inside a black cloth interior model. Pretty comfy. Nice steering wheel. The usual complements were all applicable. Then I got to see the Emerald Mica Miiata. NOW we're talking. Looks great. Nice tan leather interior. Nice shift action for a tranny that hasn't even been broken in yet. I also admired the white model with 15" wheels and hardtop. I didn't care too much for the red one, however... not a very flatering color for the style, imho... sorry. Black looked decent. The blue looked very nice, BTW. Popped the hood and was surpised by how much room there is underneith there. Airbox was mounted up front so the upper driver-side of the bay was essentially empty. Pretty easy for turbo and sc guys. Looking forward to getting my hands on the new variable intake and sticking it in F'stein. As well as the steering wheel. Unfortunately, I opted to delay the test drive for tommorrow-- I would have been late to a meeting if I got behind the wheels of one today. Going to have a nice long drive tommorrow morning. Looking forward to it. Shiv ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
