Hi Y'all, got to see the '99 on Friday night at the Melbourne Motor Show. Overall I liked it, I won't be selling mine for one, but if I was in the market for a new car I wouldn't hesitate.
4 things I didn't like:
1 Mazda(Australia) are promoting baby-poo brown as the feature color, bad mistake i think. The green is beautiful. (I haven't seen any others.)
2 There was a large gap (3/4 inch) between the bottom of the driver's door and the sill. It may have been a bit of an optical illusion, but it just looked like poor QC.
3 The bump in the boot (trunk) will have to grow on me.
4 The inner door panels look and feel cheap.
Overall I think Mazda have done a good job, they have retained the important virtues of the original, while making enough improvements and changes to make the change of model worthwhile.

BTW I'll get another look this Friday, my opinions may vary slightly after I see it without the half-dozen Mazda-supplied beers in my belly!
