That is a common trait among almost all cars today.  It is not designed
as a 'performance' item, but as a safety item.  

it is the first braking upgrade I will make to my 356, which stops well
with the single channel system, but is a WHOLE LOT SAFER, with the two
channel/diagonal system.  FWIW, my two channel system will come out of a
VW beetle. 

So, there you have it, the Miata, 928, and the lowly VW Beetle all share
something in common.
