I'm surprised. I thought that diagonal was required.
I had a failure on my '75 Rabbit. Where one of the lines runs
through the firewall, (to run inside the car to the rear) the
grommet wore out and the line chafed through. For unknown reasons,
the failure was nearly complete. The pedal would go to the floor
and the braking result was *much* less than half. So much for dual
diagonal. (Praise the Lord for the parking/ emergency brake which
- on the Rabbit - was easily capable of locking up the rears.)
