I guess that MY definition of a car club would be a club that
focus on activities related to the car and a social club would focus
on activities that relate more to "just meeting".

Nope. In fact, a car club would not be any fun if it doesn't have
a good social aspect to it.

I agree with the part about extending the scope of interest and activities
by my own contributions, but not with the rest. I don't think that there
is a lot of people that will join a club knowing it will not offer what
they are looking for, expecting to get in and change things to what they
want. Following your kitchen analogy, why go to a chinese restaurant
if you really want italian food?
Actually, I do agree that "if you don't like the way things are, work to
change it", but you would only do that after you are "in" and you would
only get "in" if there was something in common in the first place.
That is where my comment about some people not joining a local chapter
at all comes from.
Anyway, my main interest is in knowing how many chapters have a
good balance between both "car" and "social" activities and what
would those "car" activities be?
