Gary - First, congratulations on your purchase of your new '99. I picked
mine up two weeks ago, and it already has over 1K miles on it and one
autocross!
Thought you might like to know that the Valley receiver-type trailer
hitch that PBC sells will fit the '99, but, as you may have discovered,
the tie down hook towers in the back have no holes drilled in them on
the outside edges (also note that the hooks are permanently attached to
the car in the rear - what a dumb idea). The old tie down towers had
holes on the inside edges for the tie down hooks, and the ones on the
outside were used by the hitch. The spacing between the outside of the
tie down towers is identical to the pre '99, and if you push the hitch
into place, it fits perfectly. I am thinking about having a local body
shop drill holes in the towers so I can use my old hitch.
If you look at the '99 tie down towers, there are hole on the front,
which might be where the redesigned hitch may fit. Any buzz on a new
hitch for the '99?
Enjoy '99!!!
