When that is the case no, but your specific case doesn't look like it at
all...

Should be? Buddy, if the road you mention doesn't have enough
visibility where you could have seen the officer way before he could
clock you @ 85 or 75 or whatever he measured you at, then it sure as
hell ain't no 95mph road. If there were other cars that concealed the
officer then the same principle applies... 95mph around other vehicles?
I've done it (done 110 and spun around when someone cut me off last year
for that matter) but my doing something idiotic doesn't make it
non-idiotic for you to do <grin>.

> A cop stops me and writes a ticket for 75 mph in a 65 mph. And I'm supposed to think he did me a favor?!

Yes.

Could he have done you an even bigger favor and let you go? Possibly.
But was that a favor nonetheless? Of course. Do your comments here
portray you as someone I would have personally done a bigger favor for?
No way.

For what it's worth, I've been stopped for speeding about 5 times in the
last two years or so, didn't get a single ticket, not sure it was my
luck, not sure it was that they hire exceptionally nice individuals as
police officers around here. What is for sure is that I don't have an
attitude against police officers and count my blessings every time I
speed but don't see an officer... you win some you lose some kind of
thing. I bet that shows through and the officers see that I respect
their job, what they're doing and why they're doing it... I suspect that
might have something to do with them giving me a break.

I give them my license 'cause that's what I pay them to do, and 'cause
they generally ask politely. Change your attitude, it might change your
luck. And if you decide you're going to break the law do it as a man,
if you get away with it great for you but if you get caught (AND GRACED
by a lower ticket than it should have been) take the responsibility, or
fight it in court (doesn't hurt to go in front of a judge be nice and
say "No Contest" especially if you've got a clean record) but don't go
around crying that all police officers will burn in hell... that would
suck... I'd have to drive speed-limit down there too if that's the
case<vbg>.

Oh, btw I'm not a police officer.
