Dean,

I have shortened my shifter by about 1/2"... Instead of having to re-thread, I
just used a Momo Ball shift knob... Just installing the ball shift knob
lowered the shifter by about a 1/4"... I then cut about a 1/4" off the top...
It was about as fas as I could go without modifying my shift knob... It was
sooooo much better... Then I got used to it, so I cut another 1/4" off and had
to bore out my knob and cut down the collar that goes around the bottom... It
felt even better than before... Now I'm used to it again... Damn...=P I don't
think the stock shifter will allow you to go too low since it get's "fatter"
at the bottom... I have mine about 1/2 way down on the taper, and I don't
think I could go lower even if I wanted to...
