Mark,
In my opinion, the Jackson Racing unit is more expensive because it costs
more to manufacture. There are a couple cast aluminum pieces that I'm sure
are quite expensive to produce, compared to the all-plastic construction of
the RB unit. To my mind, the RB unit cannot offer the same performance
gains that the JR does, simply because it leaves most of the stock intake in
place, while the JR leaves basically none of it in place. The RB is a nice
unit, and looks good and "factory" under the hood/bonnet, and has a nice
rubber mating surface at the top of the scoop so the hood seals against it.
In the end, you pays your money and you gets your horsies. I think in this
case you pay more and you get more with the JR unit.
Now that I've said that, let me also say that the difference between the 2
units is probably only 5 or so hp, and that's probably just barely enough to
feel through the seat of your pants. As far as the hp per dollar ratio, it
stinks compared to forced induction.
