Initially my reply was private, but since a small portion of it made
it's way out into the miata.net airwaves...
On *my* car (a rolly polly M-edition) on the front, between the ABS
and the A/C, and all the other stuff that is relocated from every
other Miata that most instructions are written for, there is
left about a 2"x2" opening, encircled by fairly delicate tubing and
such, with which to extricate the entire front sway bar.
I would pay money to watch somebody swap out just the front bar on my
car, on the ground, with no air tools, in a half-hour and not damage
anything. I guess I still have a thing or two to learn.
Oh, part of my 4 hours was learning that you *can* install the rear
bar backwards - that there is a right and wrong way to do it - I
also learned that the rear springs *heavily* impede getting on the
forward/outermost bolts on the rear sway. I had to jack the body up
to decompress the springs to allow the coils to move out of the way
so I could even get the bolt in.
yada yada, I could go on - but that's why it took *me* 4 hours
(probably included cleaning up in that time, too)
