   Actually you can set it up in the game. The choices are, IIRC:

1) Left stick controls Steering and Gas/Break
2) Left Stick Controls Steering, Right Stick controls Gas/Break
3) Left Stick Controls Steering, Buttons control Gas and break (THIS IS MY
SETUP)

   There may be more options, but those were the choices I remember.
