haven't witnessed the brake boot, but my tan shift boot from BSP just 
plain kicks ass.  There's a review with pics at my miata site listed 
in the sig

bottom line: BSP tan leather shift boot - highly recommended (beware 
of others, I've heard bad things...)

disclaimer: this is for pre-99 leather (which is orangey) all bets 
off for the 99, I don't know about tan leather product availability 
for the 99
