Actually, under Win98 that would be 8 rather inexpensive
video cards and 8 monitors. When was the last time you
bought a 1600x1200x32bpp video card for the Mac for under
$300? You can actually use inexpensive cards that will
deliver 1280x1024x16bpp ($99) in the multiple video setup.
I can also add 2 Voodo2 controllers with a total of 24M of
video memory for $500 and blow away anything available for
gaming on the Mac.
As for ease of use, the Mac is extremely easier to install
new software and hardware 99.9% of the time. But when you
get that 0.1% that doesn't work, it is almost impossible to
fix due to the lack of tools (software, hardware,
documentation) available.
